Who are you? Tell us a little about yourself, your family and your life….
I am happily married to Steve McQueen for almost 15 years and he makes me laugh every single day – he truly is my best friend. I am a mother of two girls (Hazel 13) and (Eliza 9). We relocated to Georgia for my husband’s job almost 3 years ago from our only home we knew in good ‘ole South Carolina. Go Gamecocks!!!!
What does your past in fitness/athletics look like? Why did you decide to continue your fitness journey here?
I have always been pretty active with sports all the way through high school. Our family LOVES soccer. Running might be my favorite exercise. When we moved to Georgia, I decided to join a gym and CrossFit sounded fun, so I did. My first gym closed back in July and that’s when I landed over at PSF after some persuasion from Kim Spell. ;)
How long have you been a member at PSF?
Since August 1 of this year.
What is something we might not know about you?
I have cheimaphobia. Yes, it’s a real thing..Google it….
What is your favorite song to workout to?
I like 2 extremes….old school outlaw country music, or Lil Jon radio on Pandora
If you could be any animial, what would it be and why?
A bear... They get to eat a huge meal and then hibernate ALL winter. Did I mention that I HATE cold weather ?
What’s the last book you read?
Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance
What is it that keeps you coming back?
The intensity of the workouts and the “high” you get from a good workout. I also love the accessory work... those skills and exercises are often overlooked in other gyms. Also, accomplishing something in the gym that I couldn’t do 6 months or 6 weeks ago... that makes anyone feel good.
What does the Peak Community mean to you?
I haven’t been a part of the community that long, but everyone is encouraging. I have met some wonderful people. The coaches are full of knowledge and are very helpful. I feel they want to see you succeed as much, maybe more, than yourself. I look forward to many more years at PSF.
What is one of your big goals for this upcoming year?
I’m looking forward to dialing more into my nutrition. I want to improve my technique with the OLY lifts and continue to gain strength. Basically, I want to be able to keep up with all the young ones under 30... haha
Do you have any big plans for the rest of the holidays?
This Christmas, I am looking forward to simplicity and celebrating the true meaning of the holiday. It can be such a stressful time, but I have promised myself that I won’t let that happen. I’ll be in the kitchen cooking or I’ll be sitting around the fireplace with my little family. Merry Christmas to you!
